This past Tuesday, Aug. 21, the Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams raced at their first meet at King. There were a total of seven schools present at the meet: King, Freedom, Wharton, Tampa Bay Tech, Middleton, Hillsborough, and Chamberlain.

The meet was not a disappointment for the girls team, as they placed third overall in the meet. Individually, Michelle Jayaraj placed third and Isha Harshe placed 6th.

This positive start to the season gives a boost of confidence to the team for the season ahead of them.

“I felt empowered by the team and its success, and I am optimistic about the upcoming season,” senior Faith Twinamaani said.

The captain of the team is junior Michelle Jayaraj.

“It was a great meet for the team. Even though it was the first, a lot of us got a big head start in the season,” Jayaraj said.

Although the size of the teams are small (the girls team ran six girls while the boys team ran only two), they have big hearts and are ready to take upon the challenges this season may bring.

The next race is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 24 at Plant High School.
